Climbing

Near El Chaltén town, there are several natural rock climbing walls with different routes from beginner to expert climbers. It is easy and quick to get to the walls. These walls have been equipped by our guides with climbing and bolts so you may fully enjoy practicing or learning rock climbing. This might be also a family activity, with children from 8 years onward. We include in our tours all the required climbing gear (climbing shoes, harness, ropes, carabiners and helmet).

Rock Climbing Workshop 1 – Beginners

 Dificultad:  Moderate     Duración: 1 Day

For those who want to make their first steps on climbing at natural environment. Gear, knots, belaying (when climbing in pairs, after each pitch, is where the 2 climbers meet and change places), rappel (descending with the rope a wall), safety rules.

Include: rock climbing gear (climbing shoes, harness, ropes, carabiners and helmet), guide and guide’s assistant(s).

Rock Climbing Workshop 2 – Beginners

 Dificultad:  Moderate     Duración: 2 Days

For those who want a bit more… After making their first steps on climbing at natural environment learning about gear, knots, belaying, rappel, safety rules, continue with lead climbing one pitch routes. (First day same as Rock climbing workshop 1 content)

Include: rock climbing gear (climbing shoes, harness, ropes, carabiners and helmet), guide and guide’s assistant(s).

Glaciar Traverse & Ice Climbing

 Dificultad:  Moderate     Duración: 3 Days

Day 1:  Transfer to Rio Electrico, trekking to Piedra del Fraile and camp at La Playita close to Marconi Glacier. Trekking time : 6 hrs . ( L – D )

Día 2:  We go to Marconi Glacier . We will spend the day practicing ice climbing on the glacier, progression and self-rescue techniques . If time allows we will plan a bivouac on the glacier . Otherwise we return to our previous camp. ( B -L- D )

Día 3: We continue to explore the Marconi Glacier and the Valle del Cerro Pier Giorgio , continue with the techniques of traffic on a glacier . Return to the bridge over the Eléctrico river where we expect our transportation to Chalten. ( B – L )

Includes: Gear (ropes, crampons, harnesses), mountain guide, transfers, camping lodging, meals as quoted (L: lunch, D: dinner, B: breakfast) with non alcoholic beverages. Also group equipment: tents, stoves, technical gear, first aid kit, GPS, and radio.

Not included: Personal gear, clothes, boots, sleeping bag, backpack, beverages and meals not detailed, porters.
